“When crafting this composition, I was interested in exploring the different techniques I could use to evoke humour, joy, and whimsy. The work employs a lively tempo, tonal harmonies intertwined with thematic richness, and an emphasis on exaggerated expression. It moves through frequent changes in dynamics, tempo, and metric pulse, as well as spirited staccato and pizzicato passages. Ornamentation is a key facet of this work and is woven into the music using slow and fast glissandos, harmonics, grace notes, trills, and varied vibrato. The composition unfolds as a vibrant collection of variations, each playfully exploring different facets of related motifs and themes. ”
